Ghaith Abdul-Ahad is an Iraqi journalist and has written for The Guardian and Washington Post. His published photographs have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, The Times (London), and other media outlets. Abdul-Ahad has reported from Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria.
He has been in some perilous situations during his time in the feild. On October of 2010, while interveiwing members of the Taliban, U.S. and Afghan forces attacked their position. During the scuffle, his interveiwees detained him for 5 days. A similar incident occured in 2011 during his coverage of the Libyan Civil War, in which he was detained by the Libyan Army from March 2 until March 16.
