Farrah Braniff

"For me, photography started on the side of the road a long time ago when my Dad showed me how to take long exposure images of the night sky. Then, while studying visual art at the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts, photography became my passion. Armed with a simple Canon AE1 film camera, I learned a new way of seeing the world. I was hooked from the moment I saw the very first print come to life before in my eyes in the school's darkroom tray.

I received my BFA in photography from the San Francisco Art institute (the home of Ansel Adams). After almost a decade away, my path led me back home to Houston where I earned my masters degree in counseling psychology, became a teacher and finally opened up my own photography and art studio. I specialize in portraiture of children and families, teach photography workshops and wrote a photography how-to book in the hopes that you'll get hooked on taking pictures too!

Now my 3 babies are growing up at a blinding speed and I spend my days chasing the moments. I want my children to see the images later and know how deeply they were loved.

I live in Houston with the loves of my life, my husband and three children. My photo and art studio is in the historic First Ward Arts District. I love archery, cowboy boots, tattoos, Han Solo and a perfect latte."
