First piloted in 1994, Girls’ Own Stories is an original HCP program that focuses on boosting self-esteem and academic achievement for girls ages eight through thirteen. In spring 2016, the program was revived as an after-school creative group in partnership with Wesley Community Center. During the program, girls explore topics that matter to them, such as self-esteem and body-positivity building exercises through photography, creative writing, and exploring other art forms. They also learn about the contributions of women artists through viewing and discussing their work.
