About the Instructor:
Ceci Norman. Before jumping back into filmmaking, Ceci was Administrative Director at OKRA, where she helped charities make the most of their experience. “In any project I take on, I like having a role where I’m facilitating awareness about a community or helping to build one.” Ceci graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in Cinema & Cultural Studies in 2003. She attended SCAD’s film MFA program in 2004, but moved to Texas to work on August Evening. After August Evening she began working for the UT Austin Cockrell School of Engineering Faculty Innovation Center as a Media Technician, focusing on distance learning, video and audio podcasts. In 2009-2010 she worked directly for the Webber Energy Group, developing video podcasts to supplement grad student thesis work. Recently she made a film called Viva Mezcal, documenting some of the issues Mezcal producers face. Ceci currently works at Houston Center for Photography as a Teaching Artist. When not teaching, Ceci creates documentaries, experimental films, and on rare occasions, sleeps.
