Photo Collage: Constructing a Narrative

Class meets two Fridays: August 4th & 11th, from 10:30 am–1:30 pm

Learn to construct surreal worlds from imagination by using found or taken photographs and then creating digital collages via Photoshop. Students will pre-conceptualize their images and then explore ways to make them happen digitally and/or with camera techniques. Participants should have a basic understanding of Photoshop layers and should come with digital photos or materials to be scanned and incorporated. Finally, explore and express the possibilities of what the constructed image can offer the viewer.

Objectives of class -
- Pre-conceptualization of idea and how to achieve it
- Learn to construct digital collages and/or surrealistic imagery
- Learn how photographic lighting and digital techniques affect the outcome of mood and content

Suggested Pre-requisites:
Photoshop I: Getting Started

What to bring to class:
5 - 10 images on a flash drive or CD
and/or 5-10 images or objects to scan
