Bodies: Celebrating the Human Figure

  Start Date January 4
  Time 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
  Instructor Jan Rattia

Class meets four Thursdays: January 4th, 11th, 18th, & 25th, from 7:00—9:00 pm

This exciting new class includes a survey of past and current approaches to depicting the human form, highlighting the many ways in which the figure has been (and is) at the center of visual arts. Through lecture the instructor and participants will discuss examples with contextual and ethical considerations to understand the evolution of the genre and its current variations. The class will also work directly with a model, avoiding stereotypes and exploitation to create empowering images. Under the guidance of the instructor, participants will assess their own approach and explore their practice through weekly assignments.
