About the Instructor:
Liz Burling

Liz Burling's first experience with photography, and the moment she fell in love with it, was during high school while she was on the yearbook staff. Liz learned photography techniques using a 35mm film camera and developed her images from negatives in a darkroom. Throughout college, Liz took more photography courses to help her refine her skills and continued as a photographer while still working on her degree in education. Liz graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in interdisciplinary studies and has been teaching in elementary schools since 2008. She is a certified teacher and has taught grades kindergarten through 4th. Working for HCP has offered her the unique opportunity to combine both of her passions; photography and helping students discover their own creative interpretation of the world around them.

I love working with youth and helping students become motivated, independent learners. Whether in the classroom focusing on academic subjects to build an interdisciplinary foundation, or outside of the classroom with photography to foster their artistic abilities. I enjoy seeing the different perspectives students have of our world and how they choose to express what they experience. I feel as long as I can plant the seed of confidence in their abilities, they can take that and grow it into their full potential.
