HUE Mural Festival

Wednesday, October 21, 2015
5:45pm - 7:00pm (Community Party Beginning at 7:00)
Near Intersection of St. Emanuel Street and Leeland Street - TBD

Celebrating our city's diverse arts community, Houston Urban Experience (HUE) is holding it's first-ever Mural Festival from October 17th through the 24th. Over 90 artists from around the world will spend 170+ hours to create unique works of art throughout the downtown using various forms of tools, techniques and styles. The end of these seven days will culminate in approximately 20,000 square feet of wall space being covered within a 17-mile roundtrip around the city.

While the murals are spread out in a large area around downtown, our Capture Crawl will focus on a centralized portion around the St. Emanuel Street / Leeland Street intersections. Artists are scheduled to be working until just after 6:00pm, so there will be a slight bit of time to catch the works in-progress as well! The Crawl will be rife with opportunity for street photography and hopefully some great views of downtown in the evening light.

Beginning at 7:00pm the festival and its partners are holding a free and open Community Partner Event at Aerosol Warfare, featuring performances by Kam Franklin, native Houstonian and lead singer of The Suffers (seen here performing on The Late Show with David Letterman); Lyric Michelle, Chicago based poet and official SXSW artist; Fat Tony, MC turned disc jockey; and more! Must be 21+ to join.

Final details about meeting place will be emailed on Tuesday, October 20th to those who have RSVP'd. To do so, please email Joseph Roberts or call 713.529.4755 ext.10 by 12:00pm Tuesday, October 20th. There is no restriction on number of members who may attend.
