Calls for Entry
If you are an artist, writer, or curator, we warmly invite you to get involved with HCP's programming.
HCP produces 10 - 20 exhibitions annually both on and off-site. Our exhibitions are a fine balance of local and internationally acclaimed emerging, mid-career, and established artists. We look for work that is current, cohesive, stimulates dialogue, and promotes inquiry about photography.
In addition to our exhibitions, HCP also publishes spot magazine, a bi-annual scholarly journal of photography that includes artist portfolios, reviews of exhibitions and books, interviews, and highlights on HCP members' work.
Year-Round Exhibition Opportunities
HCP has an ongoing selection process run by the Director of Exhibitions and Programs and the Exhibitions Committee of arts experts and community members. The Committee reviews submissions on a regular basis. Due to a high volume of submissions, the review process can take up to six months.

HCP grants 2 fellowship awards annually which include a $3,000 grant and a solo exhibition at HCP. This annual call is open to HCP members and juried by an internationally acclaimed specialist in the field. The Carol Crow Memorial Fellowship is awarded to a Houston-based photographer and the HCP Fellowship is awarded to a national or international photographer.
Learning Curve is an annual exhibition of selected work made by HCP students from the past year. From digital to alternative processes, the exhibition highlights the various educational programs HCP offers through its Learning Center.
