2014 HCP Fellowship Honorable Mention
I live in the land of the Founding Fathers. Thomas Jefferson built the university where I teach. My work always reflects my current circumstances. This work is a response to the Founding Fathers and my recent foray into motherhood. I use a view camera to make still-lifes, built from found materials and photographed objects that I print and cut, then collage in space. The work is generative, beginning with a piece of nature or symbol of the masculine or feminine, and the photograph is built around it. One photograph lays the foundation for the next. The materials themselves are bits of my own work, pieces of my daughter's work, and found paraphernalia.
