Sports Photography – Cycling: An Explosion of Velocity and Color
Houston Center for Photography takes you to the races in Sports Photography - Cycling: An Explosion of Velocity and Color.
This class will teach you about the equipment, technique and process of photographing sports photography with cycling as a subject matter. During the three-session class, students will spend time both in the classroom at HCP and in the field at Alkek Velodrome learning from hands-on experience under the guidance of HCP's Resident Instructor, Mark Chen.
Class meets three days:
Monday, August 7th from 7:00–9:00 pm at HCP
Friday, August 11th from 6:00–8:00 pm at Alkek Velodrome, 19008 Saums Rd, Houston, TX 77084
Monday, August 14th from 7:00–9:00pm at HCP
Day 1: Tools are essential for successful sports photography, therefore, the first meeting at HCP will cover capturing strategy specific for cycling races. The discussion will also serve as a guide for equipment purchase/rental for students as needed. Images of past races will be studied to provide students with a foundation on which to develop our their shooting style.
Day 2: Armed with the tools from the first class, students will photograph the race at Alkek Velodrome. The instructor will be on-site to assist students in overcoming challenges and to guide them to capture the stunning images.
Day 3: Is a group critique & lab day. Students will show off their favorite images from the cycling race and receive comments from their peers as well as the instructor. Editing will also be applied to selected images as needed.
