Studio Lighting: Still Life & Product Photography
Class meets Monday, October 30th, from 6:00—9:00 pm.
More relaxing than street photography, more controlled than nature photography, and with a slower pace than photographing people, the solitude of photographing still lives can provide inspiration and be a therapeutic respite in our fast-paced, modern lives. From Edward Weston's green peppers to Rolex's gold watches, still life photography covers a broad range of subject matter that can serve many purposes from the artistic to the commercial. Doing it well is an essential skill for a photographer.
Lighting and composition will be the main topics in this new course in HCP's brand new lighting studio. The class will answer questions such as, "How do I control reflections on the surface of glass?" or, “What depth of field would best portray this platoon of toy soldiers?" and “How do I make that apple appear as if it is falling?” It will also teach you how to control studio materials and master the tricks of the trade.
